Playing with Silk

Summer is already forcing it's way in which is great for me, I can start hanging yarn outside to dry.  Here is a photograph of a 200 yard sampling of some wool and silk that I spun together as an experiment.  It came out beautifully although a bit lighter than I was aiming for.  Now I just have to find a great pattern for it.

I over-dyed grey merino with pink acid dyes and spun it on a small drop spindle.  I then plied it with silk from a hankie that I spun on my other little drop spindle.  It came out closely resembling the colors of the blooms on my desert willow (the tree in which the yarn is drying).
